john andrew mcgee

Andrew McGee was born in Greenville, North Carolina. He began his dance training at five years old with the Greenville Civic Ballet, training in a variety of styles like ballet, tap, and jazz. At 15, he moved away to pursue specialized ballet training, before returning to North Carolina a year later to train at University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Here, he had the chance to perform lead roles in ballets like “The Nutcracker,” George Balanchine’s “Concerto Barocco,” and Ben Stevenson’s “Sleeping Beauty” along with contemporary ballet works from choreographers like Ilya Kozadayev, Sidra Bell, Edward Liang, and various student choreographers. While at UNCSA, he had the opportunity to tour internationally with the Dance Theatre of Harlem in their revival of John Tara’s “Firebird.” He has finished three years at UNCSA and is very excited to join Cincinnati Ballet’s Second Company for the upcoming season!
