Megan Flynn is a dance educator, dance artist, and choreographer with expertise spanning work with children, adolescents, adults, pre-professional and professional dancers. She earned her MFA in Dance from the University of California-Irvine and BFA in Dance from Tulane University. She also received a Professional Diploma in Dance Studies from the Trinity-Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, England.
Prior to joining the Otto M. Budig Academy faculty in August 2024, Megan spent over a decade teaching in higher education, specializing in ballet, modern/contemporary, pedagogy, improvisation and choreography. She was an Assistant Professor of Dance at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and appointed the Gustave L. Davis ’59 and Susan S. Davis Director of Dance/Artist-in-Residence at Union College in Schenectady, NY. She also served as the Artistic Director and an education team member for the Muhlenberg Community Dance Center, mentoring dance education students and modeling how to teach ballet and creative dance for children and teens. As guest faculty, she has taught for: Earl Mosely’s Institute of the Arts (NYC), Philadelphia Dance Academy (PA), Delaware Valley Dance Academy (PA), Summer Stages Dance at Concord Academy (MA), Summer Stages Dance at the Boston Ballet School (MA), and the Skipton Summer School (England).
Megan danced professionally in New York City and Boston, with numerous opportunities to travel, perform, teach and study abroad. In 2015, she founded the Megan Flynn Dance Company (MFDC) in Philadelphia, and continues to perform and present her choreography nationally and internationally. Notable performances include: ATLAS/ImPulsTanz: Vienna International Dance Festival (Austria); Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland); Built on Stilts (Martha’s Vineyard, MA); Dixon Place (NYC); Cincinnati Fringe Festival (OH); Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Come Together Dance Festival, Koresh Artist Showcase, Reading Terminal Market (PA); Dayton Dance Initiative (OH); Delaware Art Museum (DE); and site-specific locations across southern Spain. Recent choreographic commissions include: Cincinnati Ballet’s Professional Training Division, Dayton Dance Initiative, Northern Kentucky University, Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts, Union College, WIlliams Arts Center at Lafayette College, Muhlenberg College, and Hope College. In addition to work with MFDC, she is currently a dance artist with the Dayton Dance Initiative, and performs with Gabriel Martinez Rubio’s Dos Corazones Productions, as well as in collaboration with Teresa VanDenend Sorge in Cincinnati.
