SUMMER INTENSIVE
Weekend Activities


While weekends offer much-needed rest from the “intensity” of Summer Intensive, they also offer an opportunity to explore Cincinnati with new friends. As such, Cincinnati Ballet’s Summer Resident Program offers several weekend activities and trips to explore your summer home. Weekend excursions are optional, but encouraged, as they offer a break from the rigors of classes and the chance to explore the rich cultural landscape of the region. Shopping Center

BB Riverboat
High Noon Cruise

Discover the mighty Ohio River and explore Cincinnati by riverboat! The captain will guide participants on a sightseeing adventure through Cincinnati’s riverfront landmarks and history.

Freedom Center/
Photo Scavenger Hunt

Perched on the north bank of the Ohio River, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center celebrates freedom’s heroes, from the era of the Underground Railroad to contemporary times, complete with inspiring stories and hands-on activities. After touring the Freedom Center, students will explore the scenic Cincinnati riverfront through a photo scavenger hunt.

King’s Island

King’s Island, the largest amusement park and water park in the Midwest, features an incredible array of thrill rides including the longest inverted roller coaster and the longest wooden roller coaster in the world. If you’re looking to beat the heat, Soak City’s 36 water slides, tropical lagoons, rushing rivers, and surfable waves are sure to do the trick.

LaRosa’s Balloon Glow

Watch the night sky glow with hot air balloons, jump and play on inflatable obstacles, enjoy carnival food and games, and end the night with Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks!

Cincinnati Reds + O.A.R. Concert

The Cincinnati Reds take on the Tampa Bay Rays in a mid-afternoon match up at Great American Ball Park located in the heart of downtown and on the banks of the Ohio River. Following the game, O.A.R. will be performing a LIVE concert.

Cincinnati Opera: The Pirates of Penzance

Set sail on a perfectly preposterous adventure, complete with dutiful daughters, cowering constables, and softhearted swashbucklers. With vibrant sets and costumes, memorable tunes, and rapid-fire laughs, The Pirates of Penzance is a modern, major spectacle, perfect for the entire family.

The historic working-class neighborhood, Over the Rhine, is buzzing with social activity. It is a district filled with restaurants, breweries, shops, theaters, and a beautiful park. But hidden below the surface is a dark past. We uncover the buried secrets that make this one of Cincinnati’s most haunted neighborhoods.

Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens

Lions, tigers, bears and more await! The park features more than 500 animal and 3,000 plant species, making it one of the largest zoo collections in the country and was recently named the best zoo in the nation by USA Today! Students will receive $10 in Zoo Bucks to be used at restaurants and stores throughout the park.

Moving Arts is a captivating summer dance production that pushes the envelope of cutting edge dance in Cincinnati. Each summer Moving Arts brings Cincinnati Ballet artists together with other national and international professional dancers for performances at the Aronoff Center for the Arts.
