Camilla Howard

Camilla Howard began her ballet training in the United States closely under the direction of Patricia Sorrell. She later moved to Europe and continued her training with Conservatorio International de Ballet e Danca Annarella Sanchez in Portugal. It was during these formative years where she was a member of the school’s Junior Companhia de Ballet Classico de Leiria under the direction of Maina Gielgud and Annarella Sanchez. Camilla performed in full-length stage productions such as Le Corsaire, Les Sylphides, Don Quixote, Paquita, and Sleeping Beauty. Her most notable experience was when she had the opportunity to perform the role of Medora in Le Corsaire with Antonio Casalinho as her Conrad. In the Cuban technique, she got to train extensively with Marta Iris Fernandez Aguero where Camilla deeply credits the time she spent working with her.

In the final year of her training, Camilla joined the European School of Ballet in Amsterdam under the direction of Jean-Yves Esquerre and Olivier Wecxsteen. It was during this year where she was able to broaden her experience by working on many of the current repertoires being presently performed in companies worldwide. These include Dawson (Metamorphosis) with Christiane Marchant, Forsythe (Herman Schmerman) with Maurice Causey, Kylian (Falling Angels) with Roslyn Anderson, Bournonville with Dinna Bjorn and Eric Viudes, Ashton with Anita Young, Montero with Goyo Montero and Macarena Gonzalez, the French school with Arnaud Dreyfus, and Bejart with Julio Arozarena.

For Camilla, the best feeling in the world is dancing for not only herself, but for other people and the world around her. She is looking forward to sharing that feeling with the audiences of Cincinnati Ballet as part of the 25/26 Second Company.
