Adult Division

At Cincinnati Ballet Dance and Fitness, we provide a variety of dance-inspired workouts to help you meet your fitness goals. Classes in ballet and a unique barre-inspired cardio program are designed to build strength, grace, flexibility, and tone while providing the opportunity to build community with Cincinnati’s preeminent dance institution. Adults 18 and up at all levels are welcome to our drop-in classes at our conveniently located downtown center. Whether you’re a studio pro or a fitness novice, there’s a home for you here. Friends Dance Free Week!

January 6 – 12, 2020

Our favorite New Year’s tradition is dancing with new friends. From January 6 – 12, Cincinnati Ballet’s Dance & Fitness Division invites new adult students to try our adult classes for free. Current students, bring a new friend and you dance for free too!

Adult Weekend Intensive

May 29 – 31, 2020

Join us for our second Adult Weekend Intensive! The three-day summer program is sure to kickstart your summer fitness while exploring new dance styles in a fun and supportive space. In just a few short days you’ll hone your technique while expanding your horizons with a community of fellow dancers and artists.

Ballet Basics

An introductory class

New to ballet or maybe it’s been years since you were in the studio? No matter your experience level, our Ballet Basics class for adults is a great way to strengthen your mind, body and spirit. Start your morning with ballet barre, simple movement and center work. Work on flexibility, strengthening, sculpting, balance and grace in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

Ballet Basics Attire

Ballet Basics students are encouraged to wear any form-fitting clothing they can comfortably move and stretch in, such as a leotard and tights or a fitted top with exercise pants or leggings. Accessories such as skirts and leg warmers are welcome. Ballet shoes are highly recommended. Students who do not yet own ballet shoes are advised to wear socks for class.

Adult Intermediate Ballet

For students with a working knowledge of ballet

If you already have an understanding of ballet technique, but aren’t looking for a fast-paced advanced class, this is the class for you. This ballet class is taught in a manner that adjusts to the students who take it, so a broad range of ability and experience is welcome. Class structure is based on a traditional ballet technique class.

Conditioning Classes

Dance HIIT

High intensity interval training

Dance HIIT (high intensity interval training) offers dance-inspired exercises designed to tone muscles while burning calories through lightweight exercises and high intensity interval bursts that are easily accessible to all ages. Each class will focus on cardiovascular conditioning, muscle toning, stamina, and spiking that heart rate to burn the most calories. Each class concludes with a 15-minute ‘cool down’ and conditioning focus on either the abs, legs or glutes. A perfect class to pair with Adult Ballet or Ballet Basics.

Barre Fitness

Open to all levels

Barre Fitness focuses on achieving the long, lean look of the dancer’s body through ballet-inspired exercises that are meant to tone, lengthen, and shape muscles through non-impact movements while using the barre for stability. The class will begin with a 15-minute warm-up to get the blood flowing, a 20-minute barre toning workout, and a 10-minute cool down that incorporates stretching to help increase flexibility.

Barre Fitness Attire

Barre Fitness students are encouraged to wear comfortable active wear such as a fitted top with leggings or exercise pants. Students are advised to wear grip socks, gyms shoes, or bare feet (no shoes) as regular socks tend to be slippery during certain exercises.

All Barre Fitness equipment is provided onsite at the Cincinnati Ballet Center. Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle.

Pilates Mat Class

Open to all levels

Boost your mid-week routine with a Pilates mat class designed to enhance your flexibility, lean strength, posture and overall mind-body connection. Instructor Jackie Damico Amador, a Cincinnati Ballet Company Dancer and certified Pilates instructor, has used Pilates throughout her professional career to help keep her centered and injury free through a focus on the body’s core muscles.

Pilates students are encouraged to wear comfortable active wear such as a fitted top with leggings or exercise pants. Participants typically take class in bare feet.

Students should bring their own yoga mat or may purchase one at the Ballet Center front desk.

Street Dance Classes

Street Dance

Open to ages 14 and up

A fun, exhilarating and authentic exploration of the major American Street Style dances featuring the fundamentals of Popping, Locking, HIP-HOP and more. You’ll leave ready to tear up the dance floor with friends or battle anyone who doubts your skills!

Street Dance Class Schedule

Sunday @ 3:00 – 4:00 pm with Julius Jenkins (Beginning)

The Beginning class will focus on technique and basic steps or moves with a short routine.

All Adult Division classes are available on a drop-in basis and do not require any enrollment commitment or pre-registration. New students are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes prior to class to complete a simply registration form and waiver. All purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Dancefix
