The Children’s Division of the Otto M. Budig Academy is designed to inspire a life-long love of dance for students ages 2 – 7. Through age-appropriate curriculum, students build confidence and capacity in their physical potential while imagination and artistic expression develop their unique sense of creativity. The fundamentals of classical ballet are gradually introduced, setting students up for success as they graduate into the Preparatory Division.
STUDENTS ARE PLACED BY AGE AS OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2024
The Preparatory Division of the Otto M. Budig Academy explores the beauty and rigor of classical ballet while introducing students to the versatility of other dance disciplines. Students in the Preparatory Division develop strong foundations in dance technique to support their future advancement into pre-professional training or the pursuit of other passions in dance.
OPEN TO STUDENTS BASED ON PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT
The Academy’s Community Division features flexible and diverse class options for students ages 10 – 17. The program’s structure is designed to support students who may be interested in a single class as an enhancement to other pursuits or who are looking to design a more individualized course schedule. Featured classes include a wide array of dance disciplines from jazz and street dance to musical theater and ballet.

The Young Dancer Division elevates the potential of ambitious students who have found their passion in dance. Pointe work is introduced as students advance their skill in both ballet and other dance disciplines for a well-rounded dance education. Artistic expression takes on increased focus, and students begin developing their knowledge of style and repertoire.
OPEN TO STUDENTS BASED ON PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT
The Advanced Division is the pinnacle of training within the Otto M. Budig Academy aimed at preparing students for future careers in dance or collegiate pursuits. Advanced Division students continue to refine their technical knowledge and capacity while exploring their unique gifts as a performing artist. Faculty mentorship becomes more regular as students consider their personal goals in dance.
