Weekend Activities


While weekends offer much-needed rest from the “intensity” of Summer and Collegiate Intensive, they also offer an opportunity to explore Cincinnati with new friends. As such, Cincinnati Ballet’s Summer Resident Program offers several weekend activities and trips to explore your summer home. Weekend excursions are optional but encouraged, as they offer a break from the rigors of classes and the chance to explore the rich cultural landscape of the region. Newport Pavilion
Shopping Center

Forget some important items at home or want to stock up on snacks for your room? Newport Pavilion shopping center includes stores such as Target, Kroger, Michael’s, and Ulta.

Queen City UNDERGROUND TOUR and city flea

Take a step back in time as you embark on a journey through Cincinnati’s vibrant history! This private, guided tour takes you through the streets of one of Cincinnati’s most historic and popular neighborhoods and descends into hidden crypts, tunnels and under city streets as you explore Cincinnati’s storied past. After the tour, enjoy Cincinnati’s Washington Park and browse the unique local vendors, artisans, and treasures at the City Flea.

Cincinnati Zoo AND Botanical Garden

Lions, tigers, bears, and so much more await at the world-renowned Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden! Home to more than 500 animal species and 3,000 plant species across its beautiful 75-acre campus, the Zoo is one of the oldest and most celebrated zoological parks in the country — recently earning recognition as the #1 Zoo in the nation. Participants will also receive $10 in Zoo Bucks to enjoy at restaurants and shops throughout the park.

Cincinnati Museum Center

Cincinnati Museum Center is a one-of-a-kind, multi-museum complex housed in Union Terminal, a beautiful and historic Art Deco train station. Explore the Cincinnati History Museum and the Museum of Natural History and Science. Participants also have access to LEGO Jurassic World: The Exhibition, an immersive adventure featuring more than 50 massive dinosaurs, iconic scenes and interactive props made from over six million LEGO bricks.

disney’s THE LION KING musical

Enjoy the Tony award-wining musical, The Lion King, presented at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, one of Cincinnati’s premier performance venues. Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor brings to life a story filled with hope and adventure set against an amazing backdrop of stunning visuals and dance. The Lion King also features some of Broadway’s most recognizable music, crafted by Tony Award-winning artists Elton John and Tim Rice.

CINCINNATI POPS RED, WHITE & BOOM! CONCERT

Celebrate Independence Day with the Cincinnati Pops at Cincinnati’s iconic outdoor venue, Riverbend Music Center. The festive evening honors our nation’s rich musical heritage and features Broadway star Mandy Gonzalez, acclaimed for her roles in Hamilton, In the Heights, and Wicked, alongside a special appearance by members of the United States Army. The evening concludes with a dazzling fireworks spectacular by the award-winning Rozzi Fireworks.

MY MASTERPIECE STUDIO AND FACTORY 52

Unleash your creativity with a hands-on pottery painting experience! Participants will design and paint their own ceramic mug, creating a one-of-a-kind keepsake to remember the summer. Afterward, enjoy time exploring Factory 52, the beautifully reimagined former United States Playing Card Company factory that has become a destination for food and fun. Treat yourself to a scoop from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, sample local favorites in the food hall, or enjoy the outdoor lawn.

NEWPORT AQUARIUM

Discover the wonders of the underwater world at Newport Aquarium, home to thousands of animals including sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, penguins, and vibrant tropical fish from around the globe. Explore immersive exhibits including Tide Pool Touch, Stingray Hideaway, Coral Reef tunnels, and the thrilling Shark Bridge. As a special highlight, our private group will enjoy an unforgettable up-close penguin encounter!

Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds take on the Chicago Cubs in a mid-afternoon match up at Great American Ball Park located in the heart of downtown and on the banks of the Ohio River. Participants will receive $10 to use at concession stands throughout the ballpark.

Kings Island

Kings Island, the largest amusement park and water park in the Midwest, features an incredible array of thrill rides including the longest inverted roller coaster and the longest wooden roller coaster in the world. If you’re looking to beat the heat, Soak City’s 36 water slides, tropical lagoons, rushing rivers, and surfable waves are sure to do the trick.

BB Riverboat Cruise

What could be better than ice cream in the summer? Enjoying it while cruising the mighty Ohio River aboard BB Riverboats! Take in scenic river views as the captain shares fascinating stories and commentary about Cincinnati and the surrounding region. With the stunning Cincinnati skyline as your backdrop, this relaxing afternoon offers the perfect opportunity to make memories and capture plenty of photos with new friends along the way.
