Prelude Opus 2 brings together the next generation of Cincinnati artists in a shared exploration of music and movement. This collaboration between Cincinnati Ballet’s Second Company and the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra celebrates the power of young artists working across disciplines to create a unified artistic voice.
Centered on an ongoing dialogue between dance and music, the program invites performers to move beyond form and technique, searching instead for expression that comes from within. Youthful energy, curiosity, and honesty drive each work, revealing the hidden language that exists between sound and motion.
Now in its second year, Prélude Opus 2 features five newly created dance works set to five classical musical selections. All choreography is created in Cincinnati and includes one original composition by Cincinnati-based composer Michael Patterson. Together, these works highlight the beauty of collaboration and the vitality of emerging artists, offering the Cincinnati community a glimpse into the future of live performance.
