Scott Reed’s Promotion To Apprentice

July 05th, 2023

Scott was born in Marietta, Georgia and began his ballet training at the age of 12 at the Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre. There, he danced numerous roles including Solor from La Bayadere, Arabian in The Nutcracker and many other works choreographed by Tom Pazik.

In 2019, Scott was invited to join Cincinnati Ballet’s Professional Training Division. During his training, he performed in Victoria Morgan’s The Nutcracker and King Arthur’s CamelotSnow White choreographed by Pamela Robinson, and George Balanchine’s Valse Fantaisie. He was offered a contract with Cincinnati Ballet’s Second Company for the 2022-2023 Season and is looking forward to continuing his journey at Cincinnati Ballet.

We are so excited to announce that the talented Scott Reed has been promoted to Apprentice for Cincinnati Ballet’s 2023-2024 Season! This incredible opportunity is thanks to his hard work, dedication, and passion for the art of dance. Congratulations Scott! We can’t wait to witness your achievements.

Scott, congratulations on being promoted to First Soloist! I’m sure it’s been thrilling for you and
we’re all so excited to see what comes next in your journey.

What was your reaction like when you found out about your promotion and
what does it mean to you personally and professionally?
I was very excited about my promotion! Dance has been a part of my life for 9 years now, and I’m very passionate about this art form. This is the start of my professional journey and I can only be grateful and excited for what’s to come.

How long have you been with Cincinnati Ballet and where were you before?
I joined Cincinnati Ballet in 2019 to be a part of their Professional Training Division. Prior to joining CB, I trained at Georgia Dance Conservatory with Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre from 2014-2019.

Can you share a memorable performance or experience you’ve had since joining Cincinnati Ballet?
It’s honestly hard to find a singular moment to pick out of the bunch, but I’ve just really enjoyed the experience of being on stage and sharing the stage with other artists that each bring something different to the table.

We have the exciting 60th Diamond Anniversary this 2023-2024 season. What are you most excited about?
I’m excited for the repertoire that’s to come. It’s very challenging material and a little different from the repertoire that I’ve been used to seeing.

Lastly, what can we expect from you this upcoming season?
For this next season, you can expect me to keep pushing forward and continuing to find growth as an artist and an individual.
