LIVE! in Concert with Over the Rhine and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Celebrates the Fusion of Ballet and Live Music

October 22, 2026

CINCINNATI, OH (October 22, 2026) – LIVE! in concert with Over the Rhine and The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra opens November 6-7, 2026 at Music Hall. This dynamic weekend of performances features three world-premiere ballet works set to live music performed by local band Over the Rhine and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

Each of the pieces will feature songs from Over the Rhine’s vast discography and have been created by internationally recognized choreographers Young Soon Hue, David Morse, and Kenneth Tindall.

“Innovation begins with curiosity about what we can create together,” says Artistic Director Cervilio Miguel Amador. “LIVE! celebrates Cincinnati’s creative spirit by bringing ballet, the music of Over the Rhine, and the sound of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra onto one stage. I hope audiences feel both a connection to this music and the excitement of experiencing it in a new way.”

Married couple Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist founded Over the Rhine in 1989 and have since released fifteen studio albums. This will be the third collaboration between the Cincinnati Ballet and Over the Rhine. The partnership began in 2011 and closed out Cincinnati Ballet’s 50th anniversary season in 2014.

“Two highlights of our career undoubtedly were the two occasions that we got to collaborate with the Cincinnati Ballet,” says Detweiler.

“When they’re choreographing your songs and performing to your songs, it’s such an emotional overload. It’s so moving” says Bergquist.

Over the Rhine will be joined onstage by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Alyssa Wang, Music Director of Cincinnati Ballet will be conducting the Symphony for the performances.

“It’s exciting to bring together the world of orchestra, Over the Rhine, and ballet in such a direct way” says Alyssa Wang. “Usually, when the Cincinnati Symphony performs with the ballet, the orchestra is in the pit, so getting to share the stage with the band and the dancers makes this performance feel especially collaborative and alive!”

Tickets for LIVE! are available at cballet.org or at the Box Office at Music Hall prior to the performances. Performance dates and times are as follows:

  • Friday, November 6 – 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 7 – 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 7 – 7:30 p.m.

Cincinnati Ballet’s 2026-2027 season is proudly sponsored by Margaret and Michael Valentine, ArtsWave, the Ohio Arts Council, the Austin E. Knowlton Foundation and the Louise Dieterle Nippert Musical Arts Fund.
