“What I didn’t know is that it’s actually possible to go further,” says Victoria Morgan, Artistic Director & CEO of Cincinnati Ballet. As a dancer working her way through the ranks, she rarely saw women at the front of the studios or board rooms. Reaching the level of ballet leadership seemed a distant possibility, but Morgan has always been a dreamer. Despite the odds, she went on to hold all three titles traditionally held by men – choreographer, Artistic Director and CEO – and hopes to inspire other young dancers to reach beyond the barre. “To be a leader, it’s important that you believe in your own voice,” she says, “in some ways you have to be brave.”
