Our Season will conclude with the second year of the Bold Moves Festival. The production features two diverse programs, each with its own perspective on dance and its relationship to humanity. The featured works from some of dance’s most sought-after choreographers fluctuate between vehicles for emotional storytelling to choreography that focuses on the power and physicality of movement. Audiences will enjoy pieces including Cincinnati Ballet resident choreographer Jennifer Archibald’s SIT, Val Caniparoli’s Ibsen’s House, William Forsythe’s In the middle, somewhat elevated, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Written and Forgotten, and Garrett Smith’s Façades. The production will also include guest artist Compañía Irene Rodríguez. The Festival schedule is uniquely designed for you to experience both programs over two weeks.

Cincinnati Ballet is pleased to announce Compañía Irene Rodríguez will be performing during this season’s Bold Moves Festival, June 9-18, 2023 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. With more than 20 years of experience, Irene Rodríguez has been a teacher, rehearsal teacher, and choreographer of Spanish Dance and Flamenco Style for prestigious dance institutions, including the National Ballet of Cuba. “I am focused on creating new trends in order to evolve the Flamenco dance by fusing it with everything that the stage vocabulary has to offer from the dramatic arts, to contemporary dance currents, to native rhythms,“ Rodríguez said. She has also been director of the Flamenco and Spanish Dance Program at the world-renowned School at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the US and has taught many Master Classes internationally. Her work as a choreographer includes multiple titles performed by Kansas City Ballet, the Spanish Ballet of Cuba, the Next Generation Ballet, and the National Academy of Spanish Dance; among others.
