Elisha Malinski is a native of Springfield, Illinois and began his dance training at an early age with his mother, Rebecca Malinski and Sandra Kunz. He later enrolled in one of St. Louis’ premier private dance academies, The Alexandra School of Ballet, in Chesterfield, Missouri where his teachers included Alexandra Zaharias, a 65-year veteran of teaching dance in St. Louis, CiCi Houston, Norma Gabriel, Lauren Hoesly and Octavio Nieto. In addition to studying classical ballet, Malinski studied Modern and Character Dance. He was recognized for his teaching capabilities early on by becoming a teacher’s assistant at the age of 12 for many different of levels in the ballet school. For the school’s pre-professional ballet company, the Alexandra Ballet Company, Malinski danced leading and soloist roles choreographed by notable dance figures such as Petrus Bosman, Marek Cholewa, Nikoloz Makhateli, Dale Shields, Jennifer Deckert, as well as choreography by local St. Louis artists CiCi Houston and Norma Gabriel. Ballets he has performed include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Graduation Ball, Nutcracker, Esmeralda, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.
