Samantha Griffin

Corps de Ballet | Winston-Salem, NC | Joined Cincinnati Ballet in 2015

Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Samantha received her preliminary training at University of North Carolina School of the Arts. After graduating from UNCSA, Griffin then continued to dance with The Charlotte Ballet before joining Cincinnati Ballet in 2015. She was promoted to Corps de Ballet for the 2017-2018 Season. Since she has been with Cincinnati Ballet she has enjoyed dancing roles in Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16, Balanchine’s Four Temperaments, Dark Angel in Balanchine’s Serenade, Tall girl in Balanchine’s Rubies, Nicolo Fonte’s Carmina Burana, and Garrett Smith’s Facades. Griffin was also recently recognized as one of 2018’s Stars of the Corps in October’s issue of Pointe Magazine. One of the things she enjoys most about working with Cincinnati Ballet is that she has the  opportunity to perform roles in a variety of classical and contemporary repertoire.

Touchet will never forget her 19th birthday. That was the day Victoria Morgan came to Pacific Northwest Ballet, to audition Touchet’s professional division. “Directors from everywhere auditioned us, but nobody ever picked me,” she says. “I remember thinking she wouldn’t like me anyway, so I told myself to just have fun, and after it was over, she said, ‘I’d like to talk to Janessa’.” Crossed wires with communicating Touchet’s acceptance of Morgan’s apprenticeship offer led to a planned spot with Memphis Ballet, but Morgan called one last time and Touchet was able to come to Cincinnati Ballet instead. “It was meant to be here. I started as an Apprentice and moved all the way through the ranks. I had always had my heart and mind set on Cincinnati Ballet.”
