Maggie Carey trained with the South Dayton School of Dance under Gigi Gardner, as well as The Gem City Ballet under Barbara Pontecorvo in Dayton, Ohio. She has attended summer programs with the Houston Ballet Academy, the San Francisco Ballet School, and the Boston Ballet School. Carey attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana under a full dance scholarship, graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance. While studying at Butler University, she performed works by George Balanchine, Nacho Duato, Gustavo Ramierez Sansano, and Paul Taylor. She performed as a Guest Artist with the Dayton Ballet in 2015 before joining Cincinnati Ballet’s Second Company in the 2016-2017 season.
