Daniel Baldwin

Apprentice | Anderson, SC | Joined Cincinnati Ballet in 2017

Daniel Baldwin trained with the Governors School of Arts and Humanities from 2013-2014 under Josee Garant and Miriam González. From there, Baldwin trained with Kirov Academy of Ballet for the 2014-2015 Season under Adrienne Dellas and Stanislav Issaev, and in 2015 went on to San Francisco Ballet School to train with Patrick Armand, Rubén Martín Cintas, and Pascal Molat. He joined Cincinnati Ballet 2 for the 2017-2018 Season and was promoted to apprentice the following year. Baldwin has performed in a myriad of productions such as Helgi Tomasson’s Meistens Mozart, Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella, Jennifer Archibald’s Passage and Quem Viver Vera, Adam Hougland’s Rite of Spring, James Cunningham’s Disconnected Fragments, Colby Damon’s I’m Still Here, and Jiří Kylián’s Sechs Tänze.

Touchet will never forget her 19th birthday. That was the day Victoria Morgan came to Pacific Northwest Ballet, to audition Touchet’s professional division. “Directors from everywhere auditioned us, but nobody ever picked me,” she says. “I remember thinking she wouldn’t like me anyway, so I told myself to just have fun, and after it was over, she said, ‘I’d like to talk to Janessa’.” Crossed wires with communicating Touchet’s acceptance of Morgan’s apprenticeship offer led to a planned spot with Memphis Ballet, but Morgan called one last time and Touchet was able to come to Cincinnati Ballet instead. “It was meant to be here. I started as an Apprentice and moved all the way through the ranks. I had always had my heart and mind set on Cincinnati Ballet.”
