Catherine Lasak



Catherine began her ballet training at age nine in Crystal Lake, Illinois at the Judith Svalander School of Ballet. Throughout high school, she commuted to Chicago to train with the Ballet Chicago Studio Company under the artistic directorship of Daniel Duell. She spent two summers at the School of American Ballet and one summer at the Pacific Northwest Ballet on full scholarship. Following her summer at PNB in 2016, she studied in the Professional Division on full scholarship under the artistic directorship of Peter Boal. After one year as a Professional Division student, she joined Grand Rapids Ballet as an Apprentice for the 2017-2018 season under the directorship of Patricia Barker. In 2018, Catherine auditioned for Cincinnati Ballet and joined the Second Company (CB2) for two years. She joined the main company as an Apprentice for the 2021-2022 season and is now a New Dancer for the 2022-2023 season.
While at Cincinnati Ballet, she has had the opportunity to perform numerous company roles, which included works such as Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16, Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs, Septime Weber’s Peter Pan and Wizard of Oz, Kirk Peterson’s Swan Lake, Adam Hougland’s Rite of Spring, and other various roles in productions by former Artistic Director Victoria Morgan. Additionally, Catherine was choreographed on while in the second company – featured in original works made by current Cincinnati Ballet Company Members, David Morse, Melissa Gelfin, and Taylor Carrasco. Other mentionable roles that she has performed include Juliet in Kenneth MacMillan’s Balcony Scene in Romeo and Juliet, George Balanchine’s Square Dance, George Balanchine’s Who Cares – Five Girls, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, and original works by Dani Rowe, Ezra Thomson, Heather Britt, Kyle Davis, Peter Walker, and Olivier Wevers.
