Isabel Borges was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and began training at the Giacobbe Academy of Dance at three. She spent summers at The American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive in NYC and San Francisco Ballet. At fifteen, Isabel moved to NYC to attend Ballet Academy East to study under influential ballet masters. There she performed featured roles, including the principal role in George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht, staged by her teacher and mentor Darla Hoover. To further her contemporary movement, she attended summer sessions at Gibney Dance, Henny Jurriens, and L.A. Dance Project. Isabel earned her bachelor’s degree in international studies with a focus on Latin American Studies at Loyola University of New Orleans while dancing for New Orleans Ballet Theater under the direction of Gregory and Marjorie Schramel. Some featured roles Isabel got to learn and perform were the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker and the principal role in Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco. In addition, Isabel got the opportunity to be a part of Oliver Halkowich’s new stage of Romeo and Juliet and Dracula. Isabel is now excited to embark on her new journey with Cincinnati Ballet.
