Community Division

New this season! The Otto M. Budig Academy is thrilled to launch the Community Division which introduces a whole new suite of programming featuring expanded flexibility and diverse class options for students ages 10 – 17. The program’s structure is designed to support students who may be interested in a single class as an enhancement to other pursuits or who are looking to design a more individualized course schedule. Featured classes include a wide array of dance styles from contemporary and street dance to musical theater and ballet.

Open to students ages 10 – 17 as of September 1, 2021

COMMUNITY DIVISION CLASSES

Age: 10 – 17 years old

About Community Division Classes: Community Division classes are open to all students ages 10 – 17 desiring to explore unique dance styles, requiring more flexible class schedules or seeking to augment their training with additional courses. Students may enroll in a single class or multiple based on their goals or objectives. Formal placement is not required.

Performance Participation: Optional performance participation in the Community Division celebration.

Location: All classes take place in person at the Margaret and Michael Valentine Center for Dance.


CLASS OFFERINGS

Students may elect to enroll in one or several of the options below based on their availability and preference. Enrollment is for the full Academy year (September – May).

Beginning Ballet Wednesday 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Contemporary Wednesday 4:45 – 5:45 PM
Intermediate Ballet Thursday 6:30 – 8:00 PM
Jazz Monday 4:45 – 5:45 PM
Modern Tuesday 5:00 – 6:00 PM
Musical Theater Monday 6:30 – 7:30 PM

TUITION

Full Academy Year Tuition (60 Minute Class): $650
Full Academy Year Tuition (90 Minute Class): $735
Each Additional 60 Minute Class: $550
Each Additional 90 Minute Class: $635
Registration Fee (Per Family): $50

  • Ballet pink or flesh-toned footed tights
  • Ballet pink or flesh-toned ballet slippers
  • Hair pulled back and neatly secured
  • No jewelry or accessories
  • Face mask or covering

FOR CONTEMPORARY, JAZZ, MODERN, MUSICAL THEATER & STREET DANCE

  • Community Division Academy Leotard in Black*
  • Black tights, jazz pants or shorts
  • Black jazz shoes (Jazz & Musical Theater)
  • Tennis shoes (Street Dance)
  • Hair pulled back and neatly secured
  • No jewelry or accessories
  • Face mask or covering

BOYS

  • Boys Academy Dance Shirt in White
  • Black tights or leggings
  • White socks
  • White ballet shoes
  • Hair neatly styled and away from face

  • Boys Academy Dance Shirt in White

*Preparatory, Young Dancer & Advanced Division students participating in Community Division classes may wear their PD, YD or AD Academy leotard for classes.
